Im up at 6 every morning and cannot sleep in , if i do its rare.At a site near the beach whitsun i was upi first, had cuppa bite to eat and a wash.Back to tent to drop wash bag off and then to the beach on my own.
What a rest just to go on my own!! left the other 4 back at the tent.
Watched the Swallows chasing over the waves, a boat.Had a good rest on a washed up log then a walk back off the beaten track to get to find everyone awake .Neary two hours later.
i'm different to most people, think it's all the fresh air and relaxation after living in a rather busy town the rest of the time.
at home i find it impossible to fall asleep before midnight, and it's normally around the 2am mark. no matter what time i'm up in the morning. i suffer bouts of insomnia and have found that if i wait until i'm really tired i'm guaranteed a solid sleep.
But when camping i'm alseep before 11pm and apart from the rather loud dawn chorus disturbing me the first few mornings, don't usually wake up till around 8am. I usually feel like i could do with a nap part way through the day too.
I love waking up in my tent. I always wake for the dawn chorus the drop back off. When I wake later on I just love laying and listening to the sounds of everything.

My youngest son is an early riser so often its just the two of us together quietly making a cuppa and then sitting outside and watching the camp site wake up. I really treasure these moments with my kids as I know I dont spend time with them in quite the same way unless we are camping.
That sums it up when I occasionally camp with family; grandson and I sit with an early coffee. He enjoyed that time most of all.

It is easier to smile than frown so share a smile every day
I feel so sorry for the people who have not discovered camping ,we are so lucky xx
or they say they dont like it, a friend of mine doesnt like it, funny thing is though she has never even tried it, so how would she know. Like i said to her dont knock it till you try it

Looking Forward To Going Camping At The End Of June
As a smoker (I know---), and father of a 5 year old that wakes at 6ish at home, but bizarrerly sleeps til gone 9 when camping, I find the greatest pleasure in a ciggy, in the nude, in the porch whilst waiting for the kettle to boil most gratifying. Simple pleasures--------
I have really enjoyed reading this thread.... Made me all excited for when I finally get away in the tent!!!
The times I have been I do wake up earlier and like you guys say, its the simple things which make you smile...
I can sit all day in a field on my own and marvel in its wonder... The sound of a cuckoo, a butterfly going by, a rabbit popping its head up to see if it is safe to emerge.... Cant wait!!!
I like waking up and hearing the dawn chorus outside....but sod getting up at that time! We're all really good at having lie-ins on holiday now the kids are that bit older and quite often the first thing you'll hear from our tent in the morning is the 10am argument about who's going to get up and go to the campsite shop before they sell out of bread and milk.
I'm a real night owl at home, regularly up til silly o clock and then a zombie after rising in the mornings.
On site, completely different. Reasonable time to bed (often down to the journey and setting up on day 1), then nice and early feeling fairly refreshed (in comparison to normal for me).
The mrs however is exactly the same as she is at home. If you leave her in bed, you'll never see her before lunchtime...
I'm personally late to bed and very late up at home , between 11-12 am
but at camping I usually wake about 8.30 - 9 and cant wait to get out of the bedroom ( find it stifling ) and go and sit outside with a lovely cup of tea and peace !!!!!!! its wonderful
I was never really the 'outdoorsy' type until we started camping a few years ago... now I LOVE sitting outside the tent first thing in the morning breathing in all the fresh air and listening to all the camp site sounds whilst waiting for the kettle to boil...love chilling out outside the tent in a morning
