The only time I have left him for more than one night was when i went to Download festival ; Mum came over and stayed , also to keep an eye on the kids . Now the kids are older I can leave him with them , but apparently he stays upstairs on my bed all the time .

He's very laid back and chilled out , sleeps as soon as he gets in the car , and loves camping

The joy of a happy dog

I often camp alone with mine.

Before I go away, I track down a local kennel that is happy to take dogs for a day in case I want to go to a stately home or something. I also always check that the local pubs are dog friendly.

When going to the loo, I tie them up outside. When I shower, as it takes a bit longer, I leave them in their cage in the tent, or outside, in the cage, in the shade, if it's warm and dry. 

The Poppy Dog is quite happy to curl up in her cage in back of Defender while we visit a pub, have a meal.

She gets stressed by lots of people coming and going, as she has to protect her daddy.

We go camping to enjoy the time with her, but unfortunately she cannot walk far now. After the last LRO show she wanted to get in the pod about 7pm!

I am a widow with 2 med dogs, so when camping the lads also come. I admit it is a bit tricky, but the older 8 yr old staffy cross is very steady, the younger mutt at 4 is more flighty. They are tethered so as not to tangle each other when at campsites.

For toilet trips I take them ( ok they go leashed inside with me mostly) For the shower block they are tethered to the towbar of the car for the 15 mins I am away. Mind by this time of the evening they have usually had a 6-10mile "yomp" and are very doggy-relaxed and awaiting their meal. By experiance they know it will follow my return. If wet they await my return from inside the car with 1/2 open windows.
