We usually camp as a family of 4 but I recently bought a tent I could up single handed so I could take the children on my own. We have only done one trip so far, but it was great! I was suddenly nervous just before we went that something awful would happen (like I was the very first time we went camping, when I was convinced some mad axe-wielding maniac would destroy the tent and kidnap the children!!) but once we were on site and setting up, it all just felt right. We take a lidded bucket, which we use in the day as a bin, into the tent at night in case one of the kids needs a wee, so get a porta potty and go for it!

thanks everyone. Think i will have to buy a new tent. Have asked my ex for the tent several times, but he seems to want to keep it in a cupboard rather than see our children use it. I wouldnt mind but he has the caravan too

thanks helen i will check out that tent. im only 5ft 3 lol so cant be to big a tent.

in the 11 years we were together i did everything with him, so making new friends is next on my list.

planning our 1st trip in 2 weeks when the girls get back from there holiday with him. Going to go to a place we have been a few times. small quiet place where everyone seemed very nice previously

We have just bought a portable loo (like a bucket with a proper lockable loo seat on top) brand new for £20! Go Outdoors! You probably could order online.

When packing you could place other items inside it to save space! You'll probably need the space with the littluns.

Posh enjoy your time away with the girls. I am off on my own with my two granddaughters 8 and 4 on Tuesday for 6 nights, do this quite often, we have a great time.
