I gave up showering in the evening after our holiday near Bath, I went for a long soak in the shower (easier in the evneings becaause they are quiet) but I noticed 3 HORNETS along the shower cubicle wall! That was the fastest shower I have EVER had and the last one in the evening on any campsite!
I never realised that hornets were so big!
------------- Never look down at anybody....
.....unless to offer a hand, to help them up
I am taking my 6yo daughter on Sunday for 4 nights camping by myself (although I am a male it shouldn't be any different). My wife is working and unable to join us.
Ok we will have a car, but I don't plan on using it too much. We like to stay around the tent and enjoy the outside living. As ppl have said, small tasks can prove great!
A week ago, we test pitched the tent ourselves (a five man with additional porch) and she was great! Handing out pegs, helping to "walk out" the porch, setting up the inside of the tent, pumping up the aired! I felt guilty but she had a great time!
We have talked about what her "jobs" will be within our camping routine and she will be getting the water and washing up, whilst I get to dry up and empty the loo bucket (if used during the night).
The best game we found when camping 4 weeks ago was UNO, she loved it and picked it up quicker than the adults!
Go, have fun and enjoy a glass of wine in the evening with a book and the knowledge of spending quality time with your child!
Hey, well here I am on the site! (I'm using my phone) first day has gone well, been walking round the site and found a small stream for her to jump in and get muddy! Its the samaras first outing and I love it even if it is a bit big for 2 of us! Only complaint so far is the family about 20 metres away who have been very loud although I think someone may have had a word with them as the father suddenly started f-ing and blinding a few mins ago about someone, but they've turned their music off now.
I'm just settling down to sleep, putting off going to the toilet block as its raining!
Thanks for all the replies, they did cheer me up!
Oh yeah, pitched next to someone with the same tent - its a bit like turning up to a party in the same outfit as someone!
