Yes I agree that when camping we definitely seem to be tired earlier. During August camping we would regularly be in bed by 10pm - we are planning camping this weekend and I reckon with the darker nights now it may be earlier! personally I put it down to all the fresh air, we do a lot of walking and being out in the fresh air all the time definitely makes you chill out more and so ready for bed much earlier.

and sitting round a campfire makes you feel all snuggly and dozy... we were in bed by 10 every night on our trip to wales, left one poor bloke in our group up every night drinking on his own, we just couldnt stay awake after a few glasses of wine, followed by a hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows we just wanted to cosy up in the sleeping bag.

When we went to the river Dart Country park last august bank holiday at around 8pm lots of people started heading for the showers and by 8.30 -9.00 pm the site was so still, this was our first experience of staying on a site with no nighttime things to do , we usually choose sites with a clubhouse in the evenings, at home im in bed by 9, but camping its later if theres a clubhouse, Woodlands is another site with no night time things to do, so early night when we go here! Always up at 6.30 - 7.00 am when camping!!

If we're camping alone (with the children) we tend to let them drop off then go to bed ourselves as we've usually been busy during the day, around  9-10 ish.  But at a site recently we sat up just to watch the stars it was just lovely

If we're away with friends then we'll stay up much later...unless it's a CC site then of course you all have to be in bed and silent by 11 or you get your wrists slapped

Glad I'm not the only one to notice this, by the end of our week in Norfolk, it was getting earlier and earlier like 9pm and yes at home I'm a night owl, (as you will guess by the time of a lot of my posts. Today I'm on lunch break!)

Best wishes Sam

Yeah we are early birds, even DH who is usually a real night owl.
It is all the activity during the day and the fact that we still wake quite early because there always seems to be a bird giving it all at the dawn chorus right next to our tent. lol

We usually end up all going to bed at the same time - ages 3 to 35.  Somewhere between 9 and 10pm generally.  But then the rest of them sleep in until 9.30am and I am usually awake at 8ish.

At home we rarely make it to bed before midnight.

we usually don't make it much past 9pm when camping.  On our last trip, our latest was 11pm (on our last night cos we wanted to make the most of it cos it was our last camp for the year). At home, we generally go to bed around 10pm ish and then watch tv for an hour or so.  But when we are camping we just can't keep our eyes open and end up heading off to bed early.

I agree - it is all that fresh air

Think we maybe should all sleep in sleeping bags at home and all have some early nights!!

Same here, soon as its dusk, just want to get into tent, heater on and if grandchildren are with us we play board games for a while.

Then into warm sleeping bags, lovely.

Last camp next week, then all gear put away till next year
