The Guadeloupe tent is winning at the mo as a replacement tent, as it has very good reviews, including some about the tent being able to withstand strong winds!

If the Guadaloupe is anything like the Noumea it will stand up to anything. You should have no problems at all with pitching, it is so easy.

The only thing to consider is the size for your small car.

If you want to save a few quid and still get a great tent take a peek here, and
here if you want something for a smaller car. Obelink class them as Storm tents although I've never had experience of a serious storm in mine.

Unless of course the Cabanon brand name is mightier than the tent performance

I use a 410L roof box when I go camping, and have seen the size of a packed Guadeloupe while I was at Forest Camping Centre, and believe it is doable.

Thanks for the links by the way. The difference in price between Hyercamp and Cabanon is staggering, and at the prices advertised, I may be able to stretch to a new tent and camp in relative comfort over Christmas!

I must do more research before parting my money.

So glad you and Borda are ok, DK. As a Khyam owner, I find the thought of the frame collapsing on top of people and small dogs is really rather scarey!

DK, I've had a Guadeloupe for 2 years now & it's a fab tent for one + pooch. It's easy to put up solo but a lot of pegging which is the main strength of this tent. Must be dried out if wet (I stick the centre pole in and dry in my garage). Defo back into wind otherwise the centre pole could get caught by the wind. No problems so far.... but will let you know after my next 2 trips if it's windy.

Lovely and warm in canvas & cool when hot.
