Bob, how about coming over to Sussex. Kitt's Place is open - seems to be a lovely small site at Scaynes Hill (near Haywards Heath) just off the A272 so easy to get to. They have brand new facilities now as well. We're probably going there at end of October before they close.

UPDATE...found it...it's called Kitts Cottage. According to the reviews it is a basic site, no electric, in the middle of nowhere...and campfires! I'll end up with more little holes in my tent

Not really my type of site. I like coastal, river, canal, or at least a picturesque village with something to keep me occupied. The above sounds great for 'campers' but not us tourists

At the moment I am considering Durdle Door...not sure if I still have the stamina for all the hills there though...a bit out of condition at the moment

Thanks Pete. I have decided to give Durdle Door a go since I haven't been there for many years and need some exercise and the cobwebs blown away (apparently it will be a little breezy). I phoned the site and they said no need to book because they hardly have anyone there and I will have a choice of all the pitches...which sounds good... unless they are all rough

I will take a look at Sussex another time. I was there only a few weeks ago at the Ship and Anchor Marina site near Arundel. The site was nice but I am not a great lover of the Sussex area generally. I don't know why...it just doesn't rock my boat although I am always willing to try different places.

I have never been to the campsite before so at the moment I only know what I have read in the reviews and seen in photos and on Google maps.

It sounds like quite a large commercial site and has a lot of statics. I think I drove in there once looking for a site and drove straight back out again. However, since hardly anyone will be there (apparently) and I am assured the shop and bar is open as normal, then it might be quite nice. I will do a review on my return. A little on the expensive side for me at this time of year especially at £15 a night including EHU...my top limit. I don't think I would ever pay more than that but it's the location and the bar you are paying for I expect...hopefully the beer will be reasonable

The last time I went to Lulworth you could park your car for free on a huge grassy car park on top of the cliffs. Judging by Google it looks like a big developed car park now, and probably costs a fortune. The villagers used to be grateful for the tourist trade...now they charge you for turning up
