We were members for a couple of years but then stopped as we didn't feel we were getting our moneys worth, however, after weighing up the costs we have just renewed our membership,we too like the cs and since we can go during quieter times feel we will benefit in the long run.And has been said, they are always clean, and the no noise rules suits us fine(as do the designated play areas)

and lots more besides
Hi we have just come to the end of our first year of membership. We have never stayed on a C&CC site but use the certified sites which are often less than £15 a night for a family of four with EHU. We soon recoup our membership fee.
The best thing about the certified sites is that they are usually smaller and quieter - although very basic. As someone else said we are finding more and more sites are part of the Camping and Caravan club nowadays.
I'm still deciding too, and it's probably the time of year to do it with the magazine offer next month, I just don't know if I will get my money back.
As we usually camp with other two families, does ths mean they will need to join too? If your not allowed on a official site (or it's quite expensive) without membership then we would be stuck if they decided not to join too, I can't see us ever going to a official site if they have to pay over the odds just for us to get it a little bit cheaper.
We've been members for the last 3 years. It's worth it for us a we are both over 55 and get a 30 percent reduced rate for low and mid season. There are also '4 nights for the price of 3' and '7 nights for the price of 5' offers at many sites. Also, we know the standards that we can expect at a C&CC site.
We changed to a trailer tent last September so we are also giving the Caravan Club a try-out this year and hoping to start our season at one of their sites at the end of this month.

Why not sign them up as well?

At the meets we've been on there's been a good mix of people - older couples who seem to have been in the club for years and several familes. This means that there are also different units on site - motorhomes, tents, trailertents & caravans. If we're in a rally field we tend to camp where we like as long as we make sure there's the correct space between units.
The DA we camp most with have some brilliant people who are keen to get children involved which is great if you have an only child who might need a bit of help to join in. We've been with other DA;s when they're meeting at a location we want to go to and they've alwas been welcoming. They don't always lay on activities but its nice to just sit back & relax sometimes. There's always a welcome on arrival and a get together on the last morning.
Take a look at the websites of your local DA and see what they have to offer - we wouldn't camp any other way now. The cost and the company mean we can get out more often.
I joined this year specifically for the DA side of it. One thing i have noticed is that a lot of the DA meets don't have any facilities. It's mostly just a field. The plus side is that the ones that do are incredibly cheap. Booked for the summer down on the coast in Dorset. It is a holiday site with full facilities and a club with entertainment. £14 a night including electricity for August! Bargain
We are members of both clubs but we don't do meets; we do use CLs and CSs with EHU but usually without other facilities. We go away a lot as we are retired and find them invaluable.
I have just signed up for it via the camping mag offer too.
As we are only an hour or so from the lakes and there are some of their sites around area as well as cs nearby, we figured may be worth while.
I would say have a look at their website or even do a site search on here for campsite in and around your vicinity and if there are quite a few you would want to visit then yes worthwhile joining. If not, then no point.
the reason i asked about joining was that i wanted to book a couple of 2 nighter weekend trips and i found a nice perfect place near home with playground for kids but then to find out it was a members only campsite :( im not sure that id make my money back on it this year as we had already booked our longer camp trip in june before i found out about camping and caravaning club, we are also hopefully camping at the wings and wheels show in august 1 nighter, a friends wedding 1 nighter in july.
