Wow how lucky you are to have a baby who settles easily. I hope I didn't come across as unsupportive but I really think the family who spoilt our break should have left early instead of us and others cutting their break short. I guess every parent has to decide what there baby is like and how that could impact on other :)
Hi and Congratulations.
We have been camping this year with our new baby, first camping trip was when she was 18 weeks old she is now 24 weeks old.
I am combination feeding, but take a cold water sterilizer with milton tabs, and pre made cartons of aptimil formula.
We have a sling and got a small umberella stroller.
She is sleeping in a pop up bassinette http://www.tesco.com/direct/koo-di-travel-cot-and-basinette/205-1878.prd This is fab and Eloise sleeps excellent in it. We put it on a sheepskin rug to insulate from ground, and got her a grobag and extra blankets incase it got really cold. I wouldn't worry about her crying as our camping neighbours said, it's to be expected and if people don't like it there are adult only campsites, we were quite glad they said that. Eloise never cried and the neighbours said she was so quiet,we were kept awake mostly by snorers lol.
My sister came camping with us when her daughter was 3 weeks old,she slept in her carrycot off her pram,or Moses basket and just wrap them up with mittens or socks lol on there hands and when my son was a tear old we took him on his first camping trip and took the fold up carrycot which also doubled as a playpen :-)
I took the babby when he was 5 months but still tiny (he wasn't very well).
We put him in the cocoon thing from his buggy to sleep - it's like a more structured footmuff. I'd just use the carrycot bit of the pram. My SIL has camped with all 4 of hers and found they grew out of the Little Life cot very quickly. If you co-sleep you could do that too.
Mine got a bit cold but like I say he wasn't well and I also was too scared to put a hat on him as I'd been told never to put a hat on a baby to sleep. However I used to wrap him up warm to sleep outside in his pram at home, so looking back that was madness!
On the second night we put him in long sleeve vest, babygro, sleeping bag, cardigan, hat and then in the cocoon thing, swaddled in a sheet.
Are you breastfeeding? If so, it's all easy peasy - this is probably the easiest time to go camping with a baby, when they can't crawl away! If not, a bottle of milton and a big lidded tupperware box will be useful.
