Some one on here recommended this One. We are thinking of getting it, especially if it gives as much light as in the photos.
could anyone who already uses one of these particular lights please tell me what their battery consumption is like...?...we've been using UFO lights for quite a few years now, but have noticed that after the initial 24 hours of super brightness they dim noticably and then stay in their dimmed state until the batteries finally die...we yearn to have at least one light that stays lovely and bright...

Be careful what you get up to inside your tent with a powerful light...You could be providing a very interesting cabaret show for the whole of the campsite.
If you have a EHU then just buy somethig thats bright . Outwell do a nice range but a bit pricey , we got some inspection lights from Aldi for about tenner at the time which work great.

Hi we have one made by varta - used for all the trips mentioned below. On for about 3 hours a night each night and still on same set of varta batteries ( I realize saying this I may have jinxed our next trip).
The light offers great flebility as you can take cover off and hang it like a light bulb or use in more traditional lantern way.

I find the thing with modern tent lighting is that most people are opting for LED lights. The problem with LED's in general are they are very WHITE..! This to me takes away the soft and warm light you get from say a candle.
As I work in the entertainment lighting industry, I use a Coleman LED lantern and have fitted it with a nice warm amber gel (the coloured stuff you put in front of theatrical lights). This warms it up no end. In fact, you can chose whatever colour you like the lamp to be from a simply colour correction gel (that will warm the pure whiteness of LED lamps) to whatever colour you can think of. The darker the gel, the less light obviously. Although this might sound complicated, it's as simple as buying a sheet of coloured gel for a few quid from a theatrical suppliers. There are many around..
Steve we have had the white LED lights , in fact so white and horridly cold that I could not live with it , the Kampa 150 LED light is strange for LED in that it has a quite nice warm feel. No its not quite below 2000 Kelvin but sure feels more like 4000K. It is also a strip light style so sits up against the roof giving a nice general light without the shadows of a more local spot source.

Yep. There are some 'warm' LED's out there but many of these companies don't appear to use them. Weird as like you say, they give off a horrible blue white light which makes you feel miserable. Silly really. As suggested its easily sorted out if someone already owns one.
I use a bulkhead/awning light in the main living area when on EHU...and a Tesco/Asda rechargable camping lantern in the sleeping pod...Backed up with an LED head torch by my bed for trips to the bucket during the night...
Recently bought a Coleman dual Fuel Lantern for outside and though its not been used in situ yet from the wee trial run it gives off a fair light..
For light backpacking trips planned for next year I have a small wind up LED lantern...An LED bulkhead light and again LED head torch...
