We do both, we don't get abroad (flying) often, but still try go every few years, last year was florida, as well as camping. Haven't tried continental camping as an adult, planning on doing some in '13 or '14. Hubby wants to go back to the nurburgring, Germany.
I wouldn't say either type of holiday is exclusive, you can always do both, it's definetely not either or.

------------- Campers of the storm,Into this world are born
We are at an age where we can please ourselves, kids have flown the nest .We go abroad once per year, have a few short breaks throughout the year and camping occasionally with the wife as she is not to fond of camping.
I go camping with my son or friends and other times on my own maybe half a dozen or so times, all equally enjoyable.
It will all hopefully be repeated in 2013 as long as my lungs hold up
------------- It is a wise man who has something to say.
It is a fool who has to say something.
We also do both, have been abroad twice this year and camped 5 times, off camping again in 3 weeks. I love caming, OH likes it, grandchildren love it also, so i am happy to take them on my own.
We will only be camping for the next few years, as not going abroad again now till 2015.
