To me, they are different camping experiences and can't really be compared on a like for like basis. The weather isn't a factor to me, I've been camping in a tent that many years its a proper little home from home, and it all fits in my little Ka.
I like the idea of a caravan, but the maintenance, towing and slight feeling of claustrophobia I experience in them puts me off. Also, you don't get those smells and sensations of being close to nature that you get camping in a tent!

Couldn't have put it better myself (except the bit about the Ka). I don't like EHU either.
I LOVE my tents but have to say that a couple on our road have a motor home and I do covet it.....it would be totally impractical for the size of our family, (I'd need a single decker bus kitted out lol), but I do feel envy when they pack up and p off in the downpours
I have to fess up and say that I have EHU leads BUT have never took them out of the box!
I have EHU leads, and a small heater, but I have only used it once, when it was bitterly cold, and my girls were freezing...no point being a martyr! BUT I much prefer camping without a hook up, it feels more "free", if that makes sense? That's why I prefer cooking outside too.
------------- I wish I were a glow worm,
a glow worm's never glum.
'Cause how can you be grumpy,
when the sun shines out your bum!
As I reply to this I'm sat in my nice snug tent, very cosy with the rain pouring down outside, but I have loads of space, I can get up and have a walk round the tent, play with the dog, have a dance if I want! I couldn't bear to be cooped up in a caravan, I just love the space and the big windows too much. Good luck to those who do tintent, but it's not for me
