Oh yes, my new Vango Samara 600 arrived yesterday and is twice the size of our old tent - and we were packed solid into the estate for a long weekend, let alone for a week. (We have son and puppy in the back). I honestly don't know how to pack table, chairs, sleeping bags, suitcase, lanterns, etc...

Think a roof rack might be in order.

I've got my st up sorted, but its easy with just me and Lil'Dog. I think if I had more than just me and Lil Dog I'd get a trailer. That way you can leave most of it in the trailer all ready to go, just hitch up!

When we first started camping, we had one child and a ford Ka. I remember pulling into a UKCS meet in Suffolk past Cas, Webby and Ratty and everyone was amazed as we pulled item after item out of this tiny car. We even had a bike on the back.

We now have a scenic with a roof box and we still manage to fill the available space around our 2 kids.

The wife and I started 6 years ago with a Renault Clio a small dome tent and 2 small stoves and one small table, then cams the Renault Scenic a 2 bedroom tunnel tent roof box and the arrival of our dog who of coarse likes camping, then came my Toyota hatch back small trailer with roof box attached downsized to an Outwell Carolina tent bigger camp stove with grill and now I have invested in a Cabanon Venus trailer tent with Storage boxes mounted on the front, everything we need is neatly packed away and the only things in the car is us and the dog plus 2 bags of clothes and this how it ends, I will not be upgrading to a caravan at anytime in the future and I will be watching what wifey buys very closely, thing is we love every minute of our camping holidays and would not give it up now.

Thankfully our Skoda Roomster has three removable rear seats ... having filled the boot with the new Monte Verde 900 I can safely say that the rear seats will NOT be going camping with us this year!

SNAP. But we started with a focus. Then a Mondeo. Then a mondeo Estate. Then the estate with a roofbox. Then a Toyota Estima 8 seater. We've still got the Toyota but bought a Conway royale TT. It's always packed and just need clothes in the car.
And the kids. And the Coleman inflatable kayak. Oh and the tv/DVD. Oh and the fridge.
Oh we need a caravan lol

The bell tent and all the basic equipment fill up most of the boot and then its just a question of finding the odd space for carpet & rugs

I have bought a smaller tent as this year my daughter is driving us in a ford Ka, not my dad in rather large car. Travel light, things like toiletries I tend to buy once there. Same for gas cylinders. Clothes, bear minimum, usually find a laundrette locally or on site. Groceries, locally. My daughter used to sit on the sleeping bags, deflated air beds, towels and pillows, which was useful as it acted as a booster seat therefore creating more space at her feet for as much as we could fit in the footwell. You tend to get used to it, taking bare minimal. You get used to wearing the same trousers/joggers for a week. the thing with camping... if you can't stand being a little grubby and roughing it.. camping isn't for you.

Happy packing.

I have a peuguot 206 and can manage to fit in my 5 year old and myself, clothing, 6 man tent, EHu, fridge, camping chairs, heater, carpet, tables, sleeping bags, airbeds, toys, kitchen unit, cooker and kitchen gear. We also have a mondeo saloon and dont manage to fill the boot. Just takes a bit of practice to pack, we dont travel light!
