Lol chaddy!!
I agree val about stopping travellers but i think there should be a bit of leeway for people like us who bought the van specifically to camp.
Maybe if they only let ones that are not commercial, like ours, it might be better.
I would understand more if we had an obvious working van or an untidy van, i could see why sites may not want them on.

As someone said before Happycamper, maybe you could fit a couple of small windows in the back of your van.

Even a couple of small boat portholes would do the trick, I would have thought.

UK law prevents sites banning specific 'demographics' & also generally they don't want anybody who is not a genuine recreational/holiday camper. In order to stay within the law they place a ban on certain vehicles & sometimes even specific makes of caravans. If they allowed exceptions to their imposed rules according to how the potential campers 'looked' then they would lay themselves open to accusations of discrimination.

We use our van for our camping holidays. We use our van for our decorating business. It is not sign written we just have magnetic signs. Most sites are ok with it as long as we remove the signs . We always ring sites before we book and explain it is our only vehicle, kept in immaculate condition and without its signs looks nothing like a commercial vehicle. The best thing to do is ask the site - we have not been refused anywhere yet.

While I can understand that a site might be reluctant to accommodate a team of builders who are renovating a derelict property just up the road, it should be noted that with the ever increasing cost of motoring more people are beginning to use their work vehicle as their private vehicle. A neighbour of mine has a carpet cleaning business and his van is also the family's sole mode of transport, used for shopping, days out and the (hated) school run.

Campsites and regulatory authorities need to recognise this and apply some common sense - if such a thing still exists.

Our was an empty transit. Now it has seats and more electrnic gismo's than you can shake a stick at.I end up scrubbing and upholsetering the seats. We booked it in to the local tip last week. When Mart got there the bloke told him no need to book as it was classed as a car!.A side window and rear bench seat.
