Don't really have anything to add but I'd agree with everyone who has asked for level, well-drained, well spaced pitches with well maintained grass, drinking water, clean (free) showers and somewhere clean to wash up.

Being environmentally aware is important to us, so lots of recycling points and trying to keep things eco friendly is good. I like to have Wi-Fi too if possible - will pay extra if necessary but not more than £10 per week.

Friendly staff and a welcoming attitude, but nipping any late night rowdy behaviour in the bud always helps.

I'd be willing to pay up to £16 pn for a pitch in low season, £20 high season, without EHU, with £2 EHU supplement,. That's for 2 people, a car, and a tent that's approx 7x4m with all the above.

We are a family on 5!!! 2 adults 3 kids 5, 8 and 16. we prefer no EHU, good showers, loos and drinking water..
Although we have 3 kids they are better behaved than 90% of adults and from experience a basic site attracts simular families!!! and for that expect to pay max £15 a night

For a break of a few nights, which is as long as I usually get away for, I'd be perfectly happy with clean, simple facilities - loos, washbasins with some sort of privacy e.g. cubicles, and showers with hot water in with the price for simplicity, but coin-op wouldn't put me off. Socket for hairdryer would be nice but I could live without it. Washing-up facilities e.g. outside sinks under cover would be okay. Rubbish and recycling bins, definitely.

Level pitches - but informally laid out, not regimented -are a must for me, and well-drained. Regularly mown grass is inviting, and is a good way of giving the site a pattern - steering people into certain areas and hinting at which bits to avoid, e.g. rocky, soggy.

Firmly enforced rules on late night noise are appreciated! Well behaved dogs are appreciated also.

Lack of EHU wouldn't put me off for a short break, though it would curtail my camping season. If no EHU, then a freezer for cool-blocks would be good.

As for price, I'd whimper at paying more than £10 for that sort of scenario as I have to watch the budget. I camp alone in a 3 man tent, and tend to go for sites that charge per person, not per pitch, as the latter arrangement tends to penalise lone campers. Though I suppose it's only fair to say that the per person system penalises families! Hmm... tricky one, that.(Edit: Just remembered you did say adults only site... so maybe families not relevant?

Perhaps if you plan to plant trees /native hedgerow shrubs (earning eco-cred, there!) you could plant in any squashy bits?

Good luck with the project!

Agree on level well draining pitches set out in an irregular pattern...And agree with what most folk want in the posts above...

A few "extra's" for backpackers or those who are non EHU would be nice ie Fridge.Freezer for storing food or freezing ice blocks...Worktop area(covered) with electric kettle etc...

A clear and precise charging system with no hidden add ons(when you get there) would be good...Hate sites that charge you for the car etc as without them most of us would not be at your site in the 1st place!!!

Around £10-16 would be my price range per night for the right site...

Jelboy.

In addition to the above I would add that a site needs clear, simple rules, pointed out when booking and enforced in a friendly way by an onsite warden. Too many people now go camping for a 'mini-festival' experience and spoil others' relaxing break in the outdoors.

I like sites that are dotted with trees and hedges so that there is some shade when it's very hot. But I appreciate that this can take years to acheive.

Clean toilets, showers, shop - even if it just stocks milk, basics.
