We used Kampa Airlock Juniors + sleeping bags with a couple of fleece blankets underneath for two of ours, which were great.
The third went straight to a SIM with no trouble. Fleece blankets as carpets in the pod, sleeping bag or mattress for him, he seemed really happy in it.
They are 4, 6 & 7 now and are all on SIMs.
