I agree.
We ended up taking everything. Sink, fridge , tv. Literally a house full.
It became a chore more than fun. The first camping trip we had nothing.
2 airbeds. Cheap sleeping bags. A folding picnic table. And a 2 ring cooker wrapped up in a cheap regatta tent. We were freezing but loved every minute.
Oh. And we used to have 2 weekends a month from march till October and a week or two in summer touring.
------------- September 27th. I'm going away. Don't care where. Just going!!!!

Only true to a certain extent, you can do both.
We usually do a two week trip with the big tent where we take everything including the kitchem sink, or failing that a two week backpacking trip where we take next to nothing. Interspaced with some long weekends where we take the big tent but with less stuff ontop of weekend back packing or small tent spur of the moment overnighters. It's about having your kit organised, ready to grab at a moments notice, ours is packed away in various boxes and depending on what we are doing depends on which ones come with us. Apart from bedding (we take the quilt with the big tent) and the dogs stuff I don't think our camping gear has any cross over with our household stuff. We pretty much camp everywhere we go I have always been acamper but had to persuade Luci first with abig tent and all the comforts, that went well so we moved on to backpacking too/ So probably 10 times a year
