I make rice pudding, packet of fast rice (Tilda part cooked, for microwave) boil it up, add condensed milk and some spices and chopped nuts heat until you cant wait anymore.
This thread is 9 years old.
I'm sure that the OP has used the contents already maybe a few years back hopefully!
I appreciate this is an old thread, but thanks to whoever revived it, as it brought back happy memories. My dad was in the army and a tube of condensed milk was always in the food rations they carried when they were away training on exercises. It was for the milk (fresh not available) & sugar (no risk of loose sugar) in the tea. Dad didn’t like it & brought it home for his little girl (me) & I’d just suck it out of the tube.
My mum would buy a tin & dilute it (plus milk) for making custard for the Christmas trifle, instead of adding the sugar to the powder.
We used to have condensed milk sandwiches when I was little and have been known to eat it out of the tin (when not so little). You can boil it in the tin for a couple of hours, it comes out like soft toffee and is lovely. I see that these have been mentioned already, should have read the posts.
Wow, this one is still on the front page - it's slow time on UKCS... I'm more focused on UCKP at the moment (psychotherapy organisation).

Bridgey: my theory is that you meant to pack a tube of primula cheese, preferably the one with shrimps.
No: sadly I packed it on purpose. Although I agree, Primula cheese is a great store cupboard ingredient... pasta sauce, sandwich filling, canapes with cucumber slices or mini cheddars (I like to camp in style).
I'm not entirely sure what happened to it. A lots happened since then. During the initial panic-demic I went through my stores to check out what was edible and avoid shopping (just too stressful). I discovered 18-year old squid-ink spaghetti. Served with a sauce of tomatoes and chilli it was perfectly edible. I just didn't tell the OH until after eating
Now, how about a nice jar of crab paste - my new favourite
I still love sweetened condensed milk sandwich, and also as a quick hot milky sweet drink towards the end of an evening while I am out camping!

Not camping related - but I have been buying condensed milk recently to make no-churn ice cream (this began when I sent my OH out for a tin of evaporated milk and he couldn’t find it so came back with condensed milk hoping that would do and so I needed a use for it). Makes brilliant ice cream with just the addition of double cream and whatever flavouring you like - I like frozen raspberries cooked with sugar and swirled through. No horrible processed additives.
