(P.S. Thread title states 'country', not county (I had to read it several times after I'd read the posts, in case my eyes were going funny!). In which case, I'd have to say France! Campsites are everywhere, and camping seems to be much more of a cultural norm. Love it!)
We do camp all throughout our season-March to October, and throughout the UK and France-but given the option I would opt for no rain! Hence me checking the forecast and only going if it isn't going to rain (hopefully!). Of course we don't always get it right and have had rain and bad gales but on hole we are lucky. I too love France for camping. I guess one of the reasons we get away with this is because we use municipal sites in France and non commercial sites in the UK, so don't need to book.
------------- 2015 7 weeks booked! Roll on Easter to start.
We have just had 5 days of 40 degree+ heat. Unless you are in a sheltered beach location, camping is not much fun. Luckily, spots like that are common in Australia.
------------- If there's no camping in heaven. I'm not going!
Iv only had three camping trips so far under my belt. Out of the three Derbyshire was my fav. I am looking forward to trying out the Lake District this year though x

Woodland Waters Sept 2012 4 nights
Holme Valley May 2013 5 nights
Beech Croft Farm July 2013 5 nights (the most dog friendly place ever)
I was looking at the thread heading as well. So I have to say Australia. I have had ponies and deer cropping round our tent with long grass and leafy trees but I love my possums and kangaroos. The smell of the bush is incomparable.
I have had the tent lying on my nose with the wind, the floor up to my ankles with the rain and lain flat out with the heat but tomorrow is always a clear day. I have had the beach on the other side of the fence (salty), been to the mountain tops (cold) and the goldfields (dry and red). I've been given the hairy eyeball by a platypus and heard the magpie languages on opposite sides of the country (they really are different).
And I really like being able to see what's coming around the bend of the road.
Been all over these many years past...And of course each place has something to recommend it...But I would have to go for Dorset as my favourite holiday ever...Spent 3 weeks there in the heat wave of 1976? So probably saw it at its best...Always wanted to go back there..
2nd choice would be the Argyll Peninsular (West Coast of Scotland) Totally unspoilt commercially beach front pitches and Sunsets and views to die for...

Really love Wales (Gower in Particular) further to get too than Devon and Cornwall for me but I find it doesnt get as busy and there are some lovely campsites that havent yet gone down the built up route with playgrounds, swimming pools etc (I like proper campsites)
Dont get to Scotland much but is def on my list for this year
