As primarily a backpacker/hiker my cooking is either an Optimus 8R Hunter running zippo lighter fluid, or an mKettle with a meths burner for when I can't find any wood to burn
Neither, as I use a liquid fuel stove, namely the Coleman Dual Fuel 2-burner stove, and I also have a Coleman Dual Fuel Sportster singer burner stove as a spare.
I also carry a Coleman F1 Spirit stove as a spare, and that uses high pressure propane/butane mix canisters.
I prefer liquid fuel stove, as even propane/butane mix can be ineffective at very low temperatures in winter.

Aye. True. Bit like the car we go camping in. Avoidable situation.
Also provides more freedom of choice if non-ehu pitches in better part of site or if site doesn't have them. We were glad of the gas option on the fridge last summer as the pitch we liked most had no EHU
