at damian l, instead of a car how about a Ford Transit or equivalent? - you can easily get not just 1 tent but a selection of your tents in depending on how your holiday tour is going. find an amazing place and use your new kalahari8 for a longer stay, an quick overnight stop en-route and you can just put up the pop tent for the kids while you and wifey sleep in the back of the van on your camp beds... and the kids wont be able to hear you or your music selection -)

the variations are almost endless! you can get and keep all your gear safe and secure inside including bikes too and they make great day to day runabouts too, not bad on fuel - mines about 35mpg.

Thanks Damian for updating me on the story of your original 'Argos' purchase.

Certainly does seem to be easy to keep spending, i've only one tent at the moment, i'm sure i'll have to do something about that soon with some encouragement. Thinking maybe something lightweight for backpacking to fit myself and two medium/large dogs! (in the tent not the backpack??!!) It's great reading about everybodys adventures with tents old and new and learning from their experiences and advice. First holiday this year at the end of April to Snowdonia, can't wait. Hope everyone enjoys their easter hols and the weather is kind to us.

hanka, I wish I really do, but I need 5 seats, preferably a 7 seater as we have 3 children. Most Transits are only 3 seaters aren't they? It would be very handy indeed but difficult to park around shops etc too I would imagine?

MOWWD, It is somewhat a running joke on here now, I seem to be the perfect protege of the site, from a £50 tent and a £200 budget to 10x that easily if you include my trailer etc...
I am sure you will fine tune your kit and get it sorted!
