I've survived 30 years of camping so far doing this.

Indeed, but not everybody is a clever as you which is why nobody should post what is basically daft advice on forums.

At the risk of sounding to 'clever', stating what I do in my tent is really my prerogative is it not?
There was a thread on the subject of using gas lamps inside tents some years back, lots of campers manage it safely, its called 'choice'.

Well, clever or daft, at least I'm not RUDE.

You may understand the risks but plainly some other campers do not, hence the deaths every year. The default advice given on a forum should be never to use gas appliances inside a closed tent & the op had indeed asked for advice on warming their tent at night.

They may or may not understand the risks, you had no way of knowing that so your advice was indeed daft & I am happy to be rude to point that out.

Now stop digging an even deeper hole for yourself.

Just a quickie, fixings, but who made you the personal ambassador for camping forums the world over, with the right to impose your view of what should or shouldn't be "default advice"?

Also worth pointing out that you also have no idea what the Op's level of understanding is.

Rudeness is often not meant but comes across when you most unintentionally, might be worth reading your post back and seeing how it appears before you post next time to avoid upsetting people.

Indeed & nor does any other poster, which is why the suggestion of using a gas lamp inside a tent was pretty daft advice to post up.

Daft in your opinion fixings, not everyone's. My opinion happens to be that MOST people are capable of using a gas lamp without burning themselves to death in their tents. Still, that's only my opinion, not some unwritten camping police law.
Its so nice that your 'happy to be rude' to make any kind of point, you must be really popular on forums

Really? I honestly can't tell the difference between UHT and fresh milk so I use it a lot.

I agree that most would be well aware of the fire risk.

What is more concerning is that many may not be aware of the carbon monoxide risk.

Thanks Bob, I've only ever read of folk coming to harm from bbq's and agree if there's a risk then awareness is very important.

Never had EHU so we just adapt our lifestyle. We buy perishable food as we need it, generally one meal at a time. Small cartons of milk, a box of single portion UHT milk cartons is also handy for hot drinks.

No need for heating, just ensure you take layers of clothes, including base layers which are excellent at keeping you warm, a decent hat and a fleece snood for keeping the neck warm.

Quite agree, though understand issue if one needs meds kept cold. I tend to freeze milk in small bottles which helps with ice pack situation.
