Until a few weeks ago, I'd have agreed with you, Jelboy. Then we went away for the first time in the Passat I got back in February, and we couldn't find any way of turning off the interior lights that come on when the tailgate or back doors are open. We had to keep shutting them for fear of flattening the battery (well, I say we - I'd have risked it, but it wasn't worth falling out with OH about).

I've got one early rising child and one who likes to lie in. It's often impossible to make an early waking child sleep later no matter when you put them to bed. If kids bother you go to an adults only site.

Interestingly, the OP is about an adult talking loudly to the child. So going to an AO site would not guarantee the curtesy that is due.

Some kids can seem too noisy, too early but as campsites are generally quiet places, normal volume (for a child) can seem excessively loud. As other posters have mentioned, other 'normal' sounds (car doors, dogs barking, etc.) are all amplified.

We have a family rule - no talking above a whisper level until we've heard the second whistling kettle!
