Having camped in the UK and France, it seems 'we' are a nation of early risers whilst over the channel, campers emerge much later at a more civilised 8.30-9.00 am: including those with children.
Do we go to bed earlier as it's cooler here at night, and thus wake early or, is there a competitive element involved about being seen to be the early bird and not lazy, as others have suggested. Oh, and beat the rush for the showers. A similar mentality can be seen with boot fairs with people getting there earlier and earlier...
The first time I camped with my OH he woke at 5.30 so by the time we'd had breakfast and showered, we were ready for bacon all over again. Ear plugs and eye mask solved this one
I like a bit of a lie-in and lazy morning, then a long lunch and oh, it's ready for dinner!
Like the OP said, courtesy costs nothing and then each to their own routine I guess. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
------------- Do campers 'peg it'?
