We take our Dog (border terrier), you will be amazed at how many pubs and restaurants will allow you to take them in.
I usually go in and ask if they will accept dogs whilst the rest of the family wait outside.
Also we always pack a dog coat along with ours, our dog has one that is fleece lined so she can wear it at night if it is cold, and stops her getting wet and stinking out the tent.
