If one buys reasonably price gear & gets bits off boots sales, cooker etc, its still cheaper than renting a static & on the second yr your are well in pocket.

We camp because we enjoy it. Invested in our first tent 11 years ago and had most of our main holidays in it since.

Buying a second, smaller tent isn't really an option as the loft is now full and started storing stuff in our bedroom. Unfortunately we don't have a garage. Anyway we don't do weekends, minimum we've done is four nights. During the summer we have rugby Saturday and Sunday. I'm not complaining I can't get away more, just really looking forward to going!

Work also interferes as although I work in a school DH only gets the usual holidays, after the terrifying experience with terrible high winds last year there's no way I'd now camp on my own.

Just had a week in a barn conversion and got a weekend in London in may to look forward to, so much going on at work I'm sure the weeks will pass quickly!

We are just off for the odd 3 months wandering around France ( I know you appreciate our saving you from having to do it)

For the two of us we pay an average of around £8.75 per night, pay 80 pence a litre for deisel, have no utility costs in the UK and have sunshine and good cycling.

I envy you people who only have to make decisions for just 2 weeks camping.

I'm guessing you're retired? That or you won the lottery and don't have to work anymore...
