i agree with paulamb. i do similar for 1 nighters. small tent (my tempest is up in 10 mins), only bring stuff i will use or need. 1 hour drive time (i also am near the norfolk coast and countryside). minimal stuff clothes wise . i have room to spare usually in the streetka boot, with a barbecue. its nice to do a minimal simple style compared to a full on family camp. over time i`ve whittled the kit right down. for food i plan my tea, a few snacks or treats, breakfast and thats it bar a bit of milk for teas.

Have done but find them a bit of a fag. The tricks is to be well organised in advance and have a tent that's not too complicated to put up.

We have everything we need, other than food and toiletries already organised in boxes and bags so no worrying about lists and trying to find a duvet cover or forgetting pillows etc. We can just load it all in the car and go. However we've so much stuff that the plan falls down here because it means fitting the roofrack and it's not easy jamming our estate and roofbox that full so it still somehow takes hours to fill the damned car.

At least the bell tent is fast pitching.

I would quite happily go away for 1 night, only did it once at Easter this year when me and my 3 year old daughter camped locally in my small backpacking tent. If I could arrive on site early on the day of arrival and leave late afternoon the following day I would be happy. We could do it from where we are based as within 15 minutes we are in the Peak District with loads of site choices.

For one nighters, I have used either the Terra Nova LaserLite 1kg backpacking Tent, or if cyclecamping the 2.5kg Hilleberg Nallo 2 GT gets used, not done either for a couple of years though.

The Cabanon never goes up for less than 14 nights at a time, usually July each year and definitely not in the UK.

Always do one nighters.....15 minutes to fab site, half hour set up and that's us set for the weekend 😊
