Just posting to say thanks for the 'freeze drinks' tips, which should mean a nice coffee for me when we get to out site this summer.

We too have the Aldi one - we've only used it camping twice but it's been fine. We didn't have hook up either time, we bought a few ice packs off the site and plugged it in in the car whenever we went out (which was most days because last time we went away it rained every day - not exactly testing conditions for a cool box admittedly!)

Incidentally, ours was £17.50 as it was in the reduced section after I'd been to look for one the previous week and found none. Don't know if it was a returned one or one they found in the store room, but at that price I wasn't asking any questions - always worth looking for bargains as Aldi :)

I would consider adding something like this to the cool box:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10A-12V-Digital-Temperature-Controller-w-Sensor-Thermostat-Switch-40-120-C-UK-/131101201417?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1e863d9409

or

I have the second one installed in my cool box.
I can now set the temperature and make sure it does not over cool things, which does happen! just not in peak summer. :-)
