The reverse was true at the beginning of a trip - I had to fix the roof box and bars assembly to the car first before I could load the roof box, etc. etc...
With the trailer, I do not need to empty it after each trip, just un-hitch from the car and push into the garage.
I am lucky that I have garage where I can keep my trailer, and it doubles up as tent drying rack after a wet pack up.

Unfortunatly I don't have a garage and my front garden has a wall completely across it, except for a small gate. So a trailer is not an option and paying for storage is pointless.
As someone said I'm a previous point. I could store it behind the shed if I had to worse case scenario.
