Taking a power bank or leisure battery is far more convenient than using the car.
Also, a 3 way fridge is far better than cool box for keeping the beer cold!

this I understand ,BUT the op will not be able to run fridge or a electric cool box off a 12v battery for more than a few hours so why carry a 10 to 20kg battery & the extension lead to recharge their phone & operate a 12v light.a phone or laptop can be charged from the car cig socket with out any detrimental effect on the car battery which will be recharged each time they used their car???

There are hundreds but I have one of these which is brilliant. Charges from solar too and needs very little sun. Really bright for what it is.

Well, I cannot speak for the OP but I use a fairly similar setup I do take a leisure battery (24kg) and various cables to power lights and charge gadgets.
I do not need it for my fridge as that runs on gas.

Why would I want to go to my car every time I want to charge my phone or tablet, or one of the kids devices? Also, why limit myself to AA or D powered lanterns which are usually pretty poor compared to 12v?
Carrying my 24kg battery the 10ft from my car to the tent isn't exactly an inconvenience. Each to their own, my system works for me, the OPs works for them and I am sure yours is fine for you.
