I put my ehu in the porch because it splash proof and run the extension lead into the main tent as that need to be kept dry.

Hmmm...
That's the opposite to me, but I have no logic behind my approach, unlike you.
The leads themselves (in good condition) aren't particularly a concern of course, but the sockets themselves...

You make an excellent point, and not one I truly considered before. Don't be surprised if my next photos show that I have swapped things around!

Thanks folks.
The EHU box to the front is a good idea and not one I'd thought of either.
We'll be pitching tomorrow and I'll see how we go. I still can't believe we didn't think to run the cable out instead of making the little hole, good job I asked here.
Cheers again.

The tent is pitched and all electrics are up and running without a man made hole in sight.
The EHU box is in the front porch area via the bath tub ground sheet and we've an extention lead plugged into that and into the main tent via the EHU zipper.
I'd like to say we'd have had the common sense to come up with that idea ourselves once we'd the tent up but we probably wouldn't.

One last question, before I start another thread.
Weve 2 Outwell Corvus 1200 lights. One for the main tent and one for the front. There's nowhere to hang it in the front. We've it up but it's about chest height and looks awful. We've bough some decent velcro and put it up on the divide between the 2 rooms, over the door but it keeps falling down during the day in the heat.
Any ideas on how to get it to stay up? There's nothing at all there to hang it up high.

Glad the lead out of the same cable entry zip gave you some ideas.

Any curtain toggle loops high enough to fix the light off to one side?   My front porch battery lamp hangs on an aluminium mop handle hammered into the ground as manufacturers seem to forget about any hanging loops outside of the main tent. You're not likely to have one of those with you on the off-chance though 😀

The curtain toggle loops are what we're using and they'll do the job but it's driving the wife mad The only ones that we can really use are chest height and not spaced out enough to keep it any way taut and while it works, it looks bad. I went out of my way last week to get the velcro but it barely lasts 5 minutes with the heat. I was thinking of using a little gorilla glue on the back of the velcro but not sure if that's a good idea or not.
What we have will do for now as it gets dark late but we could do with sorting something better for early or late season camps.

Won't help you now but you could buy some neodymium magnets from eBay or other cheap place and put one each side and hang it off that.

We use them to hold a small ground sheet up on our middle door behind our stove to stop anything getting on the tent when cooking.

No damage to tent and you can put them anywhere you like you could even glue a hook onto one side to make it easier not hang off.
