I've just dipped a toe in the water with a very recent purchase of a Zempire air tent.

For camping trips of say 5 + days, I tend to equate space with luxury and ease of use convenience, as well as the quality of the materials and design features.

I like sufficient room for a table + chairs, a storage cupboard, and a queen size bed as a minimum for those longer camps, and enough room to be able to move around inside if stuck indoors in inclement weather.

That means a medium to large tent; nonetheless there are clear limits on what I can physically fit in a car boot and manage as regards weight and pack size.

The tent is 6.1 metres x 3.6 metres, and being air with single point inflation, and with the assistance of an electric pump, means I can manage pitching a tent this size solo, which would otherwise be very difficult, if not impossible as a senior citizen, if it were a poled design.

The other advantage is the ability of the tent to flex and bounce back in really high winds; fibreglass poles flex and shatter when over-stressed, and steel poles bend and break.

Yes, there will be limits with air poles too, and some have had issues with the seams of the material surrounding the internal bladders failing in high heat and UV situations, but generally speaking the technology seems well proven and I'm not anticipating issues, particularly as Zempire seem to have a very good reputation for design and materials product quality, and for customer service.

I have a Kammpa Airbeam tent and have just bought an air awning for my car, they are much more stable in gales than poles.   There is no way I would ever go back to poles.

What's the air awning you bought for your car? Sounds interesting!
