I like the look of that garden shelter, but do you get charged extra for having a utility tent? Our tent is quite small, just a 3/4 man dome, would some sites count it as one pitch if we kept within our boundaries, or charge for 2 pitches please?
I have heard of some campsites charging an awning fee but we have never had to pay it up til now.
As for waterproof, the first year that we had the garden shelter it did leak a little through the seams in the roof, where the stitching is not the material, but we just used some seam sealer to cure it, last year we had 3 weeks in Cornwall and the middle week was very wet but the shelter was bone dry.
If its not good enough to cook out on the Cadac then we eat out. We have a single burner for a kettle and maybe a bit of toast if its p*****g down, otherwise everything is done on the Cadac outdoors.

Hi andrewlaws
We cooked for 4 years under a fishing brolly, was ok for cooking just put windbreaks round and if it was windy we put the brolly right down over cooker ( when we wasn't using it ), we did that untill one year had a really bad weather for 2 weeks and got fed up with going back and forward, especially first thing in morning, so now we have a trailer tent which we can cook inside if we want to and its great, we dont tent to cook stuff that splashes, so its never been a problem,
Many thanks Fiona, we will get a windbreak before we go at Easter.
We cook in the porch of our Coleman Michigan, which also warms up the tent nicely when we're cooking our sausage sarnie supper!!
Can anyone recommend a camping set of pans etc..? I've just used an old frying pan and small saucepan, but am looking to get a specific camping set. Any tips welcomed!
......outside if it's dry - under the tent awning if it's raining. We bought an Outwell side canopy that fits our vango perfectly and gives good ventilated shelter for cooking and storage.
like Chantal we too have a Grange and always cook in it but are mindful of what can happen so never leave anything unattended and have a very sturdy cooker stand see gallery images
