I agree petworthbabes! It is almost impossible to follow the instructions and put that tent up properly! We struggled a lot to put it up on a very muddy pitch and very strong wind last Friday, but once it was up we were SO happy we had a DLX; the extra space in the porch area is very good. We love our tent!

We have just come back from a weeks acmping in France with our brand new Aspen 700 DLX, and it have to say it is head and shoulders above our previous Diablo 600. One reason we didn't get an Aspen earlier is that we used the porch on our Diablo for cooking in, and we would miss the space on the Aspen, so when the DLX came out we had to have one.

Not sure I can agree with Skatty about cooking smells and splashback (the cooking variety), the surround on our kitchen unit takes care of splashes, and I have never experineced cooking smells lingering. Most of our frying is done on the Cadac anyway, which is always outside.

One thing that did confuse me initially. I had finished erecting the tent and found I had two extra poles left over.......the tent was finished but where did these two poles go? eventually we found the hooks inside one of the bedrooms, now that can't be bad, hanging space, a wordrobe no less! can't get that in many dome tents!

If anyone wants to see the Aspen erected then I will be going to the Drodogne in July, your welcome to come and look around our tent, Soleil Plage campsite, feel free to drop in.

Happy camping.

Steve

Hi Tracy - we've just bought a 700DLX and have not put it up yet - would you recommend giving it a go, somewhere clean and spacious first? Before you're actually in the holiday itself? What is so difficult about putting the tent up, first time??? Thanks for any advice you can give!!!

If you are used to putting up large tents then there is nothing on the Aspen that should worry you. Poles and holes are colour coded, base of the poles go into the ring & pin system, then peg out as you would any other tent.

I would certainly recommend a practise though, if it's raining or about to rain it would be helpful to know where everything is.

One last tip. We have separated the tent and put it into separate bags. One for the outer, one for the inner, and two pole bags. Makes it much easier and lighter to pack the car.

Steve.

Bought a 700DLX last week from Outdoor Megastore.

Put it up for the first time at the weekend. A bit on the heavy side but 2 of us set it up in just over 1 hour.

Fantastic piece of kit, The tent is huge and the additional porch on the front is perfect for cooking in.

Would recommend to anyone.
