I have made a decision, I'm having the Diablo 600 Piglet! I've seen them both in the showroom and the large porchy bit just sells it to me, a place to put all the shoes and other stuff and a place to sit and feel as though I'm still sat outside if the weather is not o favourable. I appreciate that its not as easy to put up as the weathermaster but my OH has put up more tents than I've had hot dinners so as long as he comes I'm laughing! The OH agrees about the extra space, now he's seen how big it is and after I reminded him that there may come a time during the trip when he will have to start cleaning his boots before he trudges straight in if we got the coleman, where as he can leave them in the big porchy bit in the Diablo!

So decision made

Our Diablo cost over 3200 last year, maybe they're changing the colour or something and are selling old stock, GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will agree that it takes a fair bit of pitching, but have 1 or 2 practice goes and you'll soon get the time down, not really the sort of tent for a 1-2 nighter but great comfort.

Maybe Diablo pitching should be an Olympic sport?

lol, I thought that I'd really got a bargain then Mike! We are going away for 2weeks in August so hopefully it won't take to much of the holiday up trying to pitch! I would love to go away before then in it with my little boy but the OH works away and I've no chance trying to pitch it on my own. Oh well!! Thanks for the support all you Vango people!

Whenever I erect our Diablo 600 I have an almighty battle getting the pins into the ends of the 2 main poles that cross front to back. Any suggestions? It seems like I need an extra 2cm of material to force the pin in more easily. Also both pole sleeves have ripped slightly in feeding the poles through. Not overly impressed - it's too much hassle esp. for a w/e.

We used to have the same problem with putting up our Diablo 900 but this weekend just past tried a slightly different technique and the tent went up a) really easily and b) much better than before. This time we had no problem with getting the pins into the poles. It is also possible that, having used it now on a couple of trips (including a two week trip to France), the elastic in the poles has stretched a bit and made it easier?! Anyway, in case you want to try what we did, we pitched the blue pole (the one which goes round the front of the dome rather than either of the two black ones which go over the top of the dome) first and then I stood in the open doorway to support the two black poles whilst my husband pitched those. It was incredibly easy in comparison to before (and yes, we have had someone in the middle before supporting the poles and it didn't make this kind of difference). Try it - we're sure it made a big difference for us. We read the tip in a different set of instructions for a completely different style tent as a good way of putting up a geodesic design tent - and we're convinced it worked.

I paid 198 pounds last september which was a bargain at the time, only one place was selling it at that price but i got a price match locally. Just check that its a 2006 model (if you're bothered about that sort of thing), i believe the 2006 has a side door in the porch ????? enjoy

Yes the 2006 has a side door in the porch. I think that`s a really great feature as it gives you a second more sheltered access. Also if you do cook in the tent (not my choice, but lots do) you can set up your camp kitchen in the porch end and not have kids pushing past you to get inside the tent.

I like the idea of being able to raise the front door while you cook as well to get good ventilation.

my opinion is the diablo is a fantastic tent, had vango's in the past and never had a prob with them and think the diablo is quality.

Thanks for the tip Adriatic, will try that method next time.
