we've never had any problems concerning the security of our tent when left,as long as you use a bit of commen sense you should be ok we never leave anything of great value in our tent eg:laptops,camcorders,etc so if we were unfortunate enough to have unwelcome visitors they would soon discover that there was nothing of saleable value to take,and there's always other campers around who look out for suspicious goings on, at the end of the day when camping we are all in the same boat & it's kind of an unwritten law to look out for one another,hope this helps to put your mind at ease.

As far as pitch costs, for us 2 adults, tent and car, we have paid from £6 a night for basic farm sites where there is a tap for water, some loos and maybe a shower, up to £18 a night for a site with washing up facilities including free hot water, free freezing of ice packs for the coolbox, large amenities blocks with plenty of loos, sinks and showers (again with free hot water) coin-op laundry room and a small bar! Obviously fees vary according to season too.

As far as security issues go, of course you need to be sensible and make sure valuables are out of sight (camera, wallets, mobiles, Gameboys etc)and take them with you when you go out. On most well run sites, fellow campers tend to be friendly and will keep an eye out for each other. In 23 years of camping I have never experienced a single theft. It is like any other area of life- yes there is a tiny risk, but if you are sensible, and accept that you cannot risk-proof your life, then you can relaxand enjoy the adventure!

We were bitten by the camping bug last year (me, husbie & 2 kids) and initially bought an Aztec Morada 4 tent.  Whilst this proved to be adequate we felt that we needed more living space in case of bad weather and for socialising.  Thus we purchased a diablo 600 and I have to say you won't be disappointed if you do chose this tent.  With regard to the security issue, we have never had any problems leaving everything in the tent.

We've never had a problem with security, but I'm always cautious.  I never leave my purse / car keys in the tent unattended.  I'd rather leave valuables locked in the boot of the car out of sight, rather than in the tent, and as a result, i'm careful that the car keys could not be available to anyone.  Let's face it, some things are easier to replace than others if the worst happens.
