There is also this which is bigger and not as flimsy as a bucket so less likely to get knocked over. It also has a seat and a lid for transporting across the site. We use the Fiamma version which is no longer made and it is to solidly built to get knocked over. Also much cheaper than a porta potti and can be used for storage when in the car. We keep the gas bottle and mallets and pegs in ours.

Have you considered a Fiamma Bi-pot. They seem a little more reasonable at circa £40 for a new one.

Im waiting to see if anyone else on this thread can share their experiences of their Bi-pot?????

We've got a Bi-pot! It's great works just as well as any other make so no complaints here. We got ours in the Argos sale last year. I reccomend fenwicks top and tail fluid as IMO it smells nicer than all the other types.

We love our Bi-pot too! Very stable. Use ours as 'en-suite' facilities and the chemicals (especially the pink flushing stuff) keep the tent smelling very sweet indeed.

Not too big either. We find that the waste tank fits perfectly into one of those folding rolling crates, so it is easy to transport too. Even with a family of 6, if used just for night-time and occasionally lazy kids (and adults) I only have to empty it a couple of times in the week.

We have the very small Porta Potti 345.  We only got it as an emergency toilet and is only used at nights and then only sometimes.  It usually lasts us all week without emptying it.  Normally we will it up on the first day, put the flush and waste chemicals in and then just empty it at the end of the trip.  It never ever smells and as yet has never been knocked over.  Its also comfortable on the behind.  We used to have a much bigger one whicg was a bit easier because you didn't have to squat down so far, but that used to take up so much space.  The 345 is very compact and even splits into 2 to make it even more compact.  I wouldn't worry about spending a fortune on one of these, just go for the cheapest you can find, they all do the same thing.

I didn't mean the dark pink 'corrugated paper' sort (ah! memories of school days!)- just not the the top-of-the-range quilted stuff! Although to be honest, it all ends up in the same place anyway, so I wouldn't lose any sleep over it!

Went to visit a toilet paper factory once (it's a long story!) and I was amazed at the tests that they do on the batches of loo roll. For example, a sheet of loo roll should disintegrate when shaken just ten times in a jar of water. (I may have the exact figure wrong, but the principle is there). By contrast, facial tissue is designed not to disintegrate, (so bits don't come off around your face!) and so should not even be flushed down a normal loo!

We bought a Port Potti (now re-named Peter Potti  ) and it's great. Like many others, we only use it at night as the kids would fill it in a day. Night time also includes sitting around drinking beer/wine of course. We don't get bad smells, the pink flushy stuff smells luverly.

Gets a bit heavy if you let the waste tank get anywhere near full so I tend to empty it more frequently. It's never been knocked over (no doubt it now will). It's a very clean system when emptying (contents not included) and very easy to handle.

I have loads of those anti everything wipes from ASDA handy all the time so it can be wiped down a lot (yes i'm paranoid). All in all it's the dogs danglies.

Oh - NO number 2's!
