Just have to be careful on Ebay, perhaps a bit more than going into your local dealer and buying.

Some of the most repected camping suppliers have "shops" on Ebay.

However I think there's a lot of junk as well, and you are not always certain exactly what you are getting. New, nearly new, only used once( 100 night trip in mountains!) and so on.

I bought my tents by looking at the best prices.

Also last years models can be a bargain. They are often the same spec as the current ones and can represent a serious bargain.

Since buying my Khyam from a local store I often check what price it is selling for on Ebay and have been amazed at the price they fetch! I will definately be selling mine there when I decide to change. I think people get caught up in the excitement of bidding, it's very addictive... I must have it, I must have it,....

I got my tents (10 year old macpac minaret, and a 30 year old blacks of greenock 'wren' both 2 person sized, one for me, one for the 2kids) from freecycle.

I think wanting 'this years model' sounds crazy.

I might want to get us a tent that we can all fit in too, but i'll be trying to find one for free or as cheap as possible, as long as it's complete, and waterproof, well that's plenty good enough for us.

We've used the tents and they are great, the kids love theirs, and i especially love mine, it just feels calm and peaceful inside it, canvas too, which i really like.

In fact i got all my camping stuff from freecycle, stoves, pans, gas, lamps, kettle, sleeping bags, beds.

Here's to more camping on the cheap :o))

Our tent was a bit cheaper for being last years colour,  and I am afraid I cannot bring myself to care one bit!  LOL.

We did get ours on E-Bay, but new from a well known dealer who has given us perfect service and only after extensive research.  And the reason we didn't go to a supplier?  Erm, there aren't many here for some unbeknown reason.  Given a lottery win we'd love a tent shop of our own, but failing that E-Bay WITH RESEARCH is an excellent tool.
