I like solitude or the chance to choose my neighbours!
A friend and I went on the snowy trip, many local roads were closed or difficult to pass. We rang the site to confirm, I have stayed there before in Winter, so they weren't too surprised.
We had the site to ourselves, no queues for showers etc.
Once the fire's lit all is well.
With a good sleeping bag, the only things that gets cold are the bits sticking out of it!
Might have a short hop into Derbyshire next week, the rain will keep the sites a little quieter.
I`ve woken up to snow on the tent...mostly when I was a lot younger and less creaky, but the last time on a family camping trip in October. It`s really weird...the snow deadens sound coming into the tent so you feel much more enclosed than usual.
Nice going out into a snowy morning with the winter sun shining though.
Still not my cup of tea camping in snow. I feel the cold easily, so much so my OH swears I am a lizard! I hasten to add he compares me to a lizard because they are cold blooded, not because I look like one!
Could anyone recommend a heater to use if things get cold. My better half decided we would not be going this weekend due to the weather...and left me disappointed. My mate mentioned heaters, but can you use them in tents?
We bought a fan heater from Argos before we went last BH weekend and it was a god send. You need to keep the wattage low so as not to blow the EHU though and of course be very very careful where you put it but just the two of us in our vango it was ideal. Very quick to warm things up. Think it was just £8.99 and it is sort of oblong shape.
