No you can not pole out either door on a monty 12 one side has a small open porch the other just zips or rolls up but you can buy a side porch which is quite a size.

It goes over the top of the tent to the other side to guy it out. the porch bit clips to the poles and guy out at the front it gives more room to cook under or sit out under (where going to try and make some sort of front door to clip on and peg out so we can leave shoes out there with out geting wet)

This is the 2005 Model.  The 2006 model, you can pole out the door on the montana 12.  Also, the Nebraksa has a centre height of 235cm and 195cm in the bedroom pods, thats more than adequate for most people ( 6foot 5inches ). I am very un-biased when it comes to all 3 of these tents as they all have their purposes in our camping life.  All 3 are easy to pitch although the Nebraska will require 2 people whereas the Montana range can be put up solo ( much easier with 2 though ).

The best advice has already been mentioned.  Have a look and compare all of them and see which one suits your needs the best.  All 3 are great tents.

Nebraska Xl height is 235cm and the very shortest height of the inner bedroom tents is 195cm which is a very small portion if you look at specs...it sounds kinda misleading just saying the nebraska's inner is 195cm... I would not have bought it if this was the case as im 6Ft 2..... the nebraska is very tall...

The weight of the Nebraska is also high because of the poles.... from what I have been informed they are very very sturdy compared to most tents....

Throw in the addition of that excellent porch and that was what swung me...

The footprint of the monty is deffinatly better...but only if you dont throw on the porch extension you can get which you seem to be considering.....under those circumstances then there is not much difference between the 2 other than the Nebraska has a wider porch with a door...and is part of the tent...

Just seemed like some of the mark info regarding the nebraska is all and ive spent the last 3 weeks picking a tent to end up with this one....and pretty much know the specs by heart.....

EDIT: Looks like the resident tent expert beat me to it again....  once again langley beats me to it

Its not the size of the tent...its how you pitch it..

We have the XL and I have to say its a great family tent.

I reckon it's pretty easy to put up. If you're really game it can be errected by one person..honest.

There are only four of us so we have loads of space...although Rose does like to take everything..but who's counting

Out of the two I would go for the Nebraska XL. It`s the porch that does it for me and we feel the extra room it gives is the deciding factor for us.It`s the kind of tent you wouldn`t mind being stuck inside for a day if it rains. Saying that we went to get the XL and came back with XXL!

Hi,

Sounds like you've already made your mind up. But in case you haven't...I'm not sure where in Yorkshire you are but Caseys Camping in Otley is very goood, they have a nebraska and prob. a monty 12, I can't remember as I feel in love with the nebraska - primarily because of the porch (and the fact it's massive and we liked the lay out). They also do mail order but if you go obviously you can look at the tents. We ended up buying ours from Mitchells near Wakefield as Caseys didn't have any stock in that day. They too have plenty of tents to wander round.

montana 12 every time, personal choice, but slopy bedrooms compared to ones you can stand in, a uniform shape instead of pods and a lot less weight, the 12 is cavernous, we have 3 boys and remove a inner tent of 4 and have massive amounts of room for all sorts and can stand in every part of the tent which is exceptionally rigid with external metal poles and erects and pegs in 30 minutes.!

Hi Redz - is it the 2006 model you have ? And are the removable inners at both ends or one end only ?

I was having the same dilema last week. We went to Casey's outside of chester to look and we've decided on the Indiana 8. For us there were two main factors which influenced the decision -
1) the Nebraska XL was really hot inside compared to the Montana and the Indiana. (The tents are outside there, and it was a sunny day)
2) the Montana has a huge 'lip' on the the door where the SIG goes up - it looked like between 6 and 8 inches. The Indiana has a zip down bit so the entryway is flat - which we though much better for the kids as we don't want them flying over it. Our current tent doesn't have a SIG so they're not used to it.

We did spend ages looking at them and comparing the possibilities of each - we took a digi-camera with us and took photos of the insides with people in them so that we could look again at home.

I'm glad we went to look before we decided. Anyway, hope that helps some.

Hi can anyone tell me if the 2006 model of the Montana 12 has removable inners at both ends or one end only - or NONE ? i.e they are not just one big bedroon with a zipped divider in the middle.

ok this confused me, we have just test pitched our new monty 12 , and it looks to me like you can put the big side door up, there are awning poles included with it , and the door has the little steel rings for the top of the pole to go in. if thats not what the poles are for , what do they do >????
