It`s a good idea while the tent is up to have a think about where everything is going to go, especially sleeping arrangements. Saves fights amongst the kids once you get to the campsite! Put the dividers up (if you have them) and have a good think. Try to allocate storage space off the main living area for as much as possible...the pods are the driest areas, so keep clothes and electricals in there. The living area may look huge when empty, but once you have, say, four chairs, a table and four people in there it will be getting cramped! And kitchen equipment needs easy access. If you`re going to cook inside the tent (I don`t, but your choice) then you need an area right next to the door but where people won`t bump either the cooker or you when going in and out.

When I got my first tent, we lived in a tenament flat in Glasgow, so we went round to the local park and pitch it there.... no-one blinked an eyelid to what we were doing.

So do the vancouver owners rate this tent as we looked at it direct from Slumbalux and liked the look of it.

Hi lynles,I had this tent a couple of years ago. i loved it, the tent we'd had before was a 6 berth canvas frame tent that cost us about £450. I was very pleased with that one, and only sold it because we got a caravan.

When i got this tent I paid £150 in the sale. I was dubious as to how good it would be, as i'd not tried a synthetic tent. But at the time I couldn't afford another frame tent. It was quite similar in shape and size as the canvas one, except that the poles were on the outside, and the bedroom space was twice the size. It is just one huge bedroom with a curtain divider, which I liked as we had a 5 year old who we wanted in the same room as us, not in a seperate pod.

I was delighted with the vancouver. it was quicker and easier to put up, and a lighter, smaller packed size. It was watertight in torrential rain, it didn't budge in gale force winds, and it was very cosy, as it has storm flaps all the way around.

we sold it to a friend when we went back to a caravan (again)

I would say it is a great value tent, even more so now as its only £99.

There are similar brand name designs at 3 times the price, I dare say they may be better quality, and  they may last a lot longer, but I used mine for a full season and I camp a lot. It never let me down.

So if you are looking to start camping on a budget  and have a large family or just a couple of littlies, and need big space for travel cot, pram etc, this would be a great starter tent. After all most campers end up buying a new tent the second season anyway, even if its just because something new takes their fancy.

Debbies comments are exactly why we went for this tent - it really is fantastic! Just seeing how much space there was last night, gave me now worries in fitting in the travel cot, the buggy and the ten ton of other stuff that is needed with babies!

We did exactly the same Linz - Steve and I pitched it on our local field as our garden was too small. Ours is really big as well and Harry, our 5yr old loves it...thinks its his new house!!!! Just want to get away now...only 6 weeks to go! Might just have to pop away for a quick weekend if this weather stays this good.

I know what you mean Diane, we were so pleased with it last night, 6 and a half weeks before we go away, but it will be well worth the wait!
