Little Scamp's first camping trip (one night, to see how it went) was when she was 4 weeks old (we had a folding camper then, so it WAS under canvas - no mains, site with no facilities, just a field with a tap and somewhere to empty the loo!! - it was mid-May). I was feeding myself, but I used sterilising bags (as described by kayscough, top of page) for dummies, etc, and for bottles when she was a bit older. Little Scamp's first week camping was when she was 6 weeks old. She was never a cryer, really, except for food, so if she grizzled during the night I just had to feed her and all was quiet again.
Once your new baby is born, you will have a better idea of how soon you can get away - go with your own gut feelings and don't let the doubting Thomas's put you off if it feels right. Camping with a young baby can and does work, but only if you are happy with the idea.
