Hubby raised his eyebrows when I bought a cooking tent, but now he moans if we don`t take it. He likes to be able to sit there in the morning while the kettle boils.

The showers are cheap and pack very small, btw. Basically they`re a plastic bag with a hook on one end and a spout on the other. Very useful for sluicing down sandy children.

Okay, I give up. Two of you have groundsheets down in your kitchen tents. Why? Surely just something else to clean, on both sides?

Teeny groundsheet only though, and stops the underneath of the fridge getting damp or mucky. (Can't see much of what is in ours in this pic but there is tons of stuff on right hand side, including on the floor!)

Going to use a breathable one in future, though.

 We don't use a ground sheet in our day tent and we keep the fridge on a small table along with ehu taped down with duck tape just in case it falls on to the bottom

Ground sheet are sippeeyyyy when they have grease on them from bacon &eggs. plus you don't have to worry about droping any thing on the ground.

I hadn't heard of kitchen tents till i came on here and I think they are a fab idea!!!

I'm affraid we use a gazebo and windbrakes!!!  I'd never cook inside my tent, I'm too dangerous  I like to put the table and chairs there too so all the kids mess is outside and not in the tent. I also have my fairy lights up so it's nice to sit out at night and have a glass of wine.

The ground was particularly wet when we arrived (in Norfolk), and we had a lot of gear to put directly on the ground. At most sites we probably would not bother.
