I think there's a difference between having kids in the same tent as you and kids having a pup tent that they are in on their own. I hink that my son and daughter wouldn't mind being in a pup tent as long as there was someone else in there with them.   My son did use a pup tent quite a few times last year and when I told him we were getting a bigger tent he was elated. I asked what he didn't like about being in the pup tent, he said it was partly down to the isolation and that when he heard animals (horses and cows etc) sniffing around outside the tent it made him feel uneasy. I also don't think that spacewise there is much advantage having a pup tent, as I found that having a pup tent and a 4 man tent takes up a similar amount of space as our 9 man tent, which we all fit into. At least with our 9 man tent we have a huge living area as well. Plus we don't have the extra expense of having a pup tent and a normal tent when booking pitches.

Relaaaaax.....

Mine are just not independant enough to enjoy being on their own yet, it'll come, but why rush?  They grow up quickly enough as it is!

My oldest( 8 ) used a pup tent when we last went away. But he did want the dog to sleep with him so I let it

Next nite my youngest 4 wanted to sleep in it as well. As it was next to camper door I let them all sleep in dog included, She barks at anything so I knew they'de be ok
