I can confirm that an electric fan heater is ok as we used one last week all night every night, it was a life saver, very cold and wet. but make sure it is not near any leak's that occur. i,e place it under a table at night.
Just use your common sence when using electrical appliance's in the tent.
used a small cheap electric fan heater, from argos,in our vango aspen 700. it worked a treat. as the tent is double skinned i can't comment on condensation, but my brother used a fan heater with a thermostat (turned itself on and off all night) in his tent and he seemed to think it actually eliminated the condensation problem.
Hi Southtomids. You will have no problems at all using an electric fan heater, just ensure it has a thermostatic control. Just keep the temperature to a comfortable level and not HOT!!!! In the morning open up as much ventilation as possible. A PVC groundsheet helps brilliantly to combat condensation.
Hope this helps.
Have fun!
Tx all for the replies on the electric heater issue.
I've never had to use one before but I reckon we've seen the best of the weather now and Bude is looking "cool" next week.
I shall, as recommended, be weary of where I put it, and it has got a thermostat so I'll leave it on low just to take ther chill off as I'm sure you all know that when you wake up in the mortning it's usually quite warm in the tent anyway.
Heating large tents with gas or gas bottle heaters can be very expensive.........can't leave them on throughout the night - which is when you really need them!
I always take a fan heater and a timer - set it to click on and off throughout the night - keeps the tent and bedrooms lovely and warm, especially nice when you have those toilet trips in the 'wee' small hours........brrrr!
That's the beauty of pre-paid electricity..........luxury!
