The only thing we have ever had taken was our roll of bin bag. I hope who ever took them used them to clean up their rubbish.

No, I would not use a device to 'lock' our tent as I would rather the thief just came in a took something rather than damage the tent trying. Never leave anything of value in the tent while we our out anyway. Lock it in the car or carry it with us.

I have never had anything stolen and all valuables are either with me or locked in the car.

I find the liberal sprinkling of landmines usually deters and stops thieves dead in their tracks though

To be perfectly honest, if I didnt feel "safe" and secure and able to forget about such things when camping, I wouldnt go. It is the "unsecure" and friendly nature of it that is the main attraction for me.

Dont see the point of an anti theft device - lock your tent up and anyone can soon get in via the sides with a stanley knife,

Maybe for piece of mind some could use one of them motion detecters for sheds that run off batteries. One with a remote control might be useful

It does seem that theft within camp sites is rare. If anything was to be developed, it would have to cater more for festival goers, who, generally carry everything with them to their tents for the weekend, and don't have easy access to their own cars. Festivals also tend to attract their share of thieves..... (who probably spend the summers, moving from one festival to another)

I think most campers are honest and do lookout for each other, BUT its not other campers who do the stealing its usually some of the locals looking for easy pickings, and lets face it how easy is it to get into a tent.

I believe if someone is in my tent without my permission, then he can gladly meet my friend Mr B. Bat who will without a doubt make them see the error of there ways, and regret thier actions, hahahaha.

I can forgive most things, BUT a thief is the lowest scum sucking life form that ever walked God's earth, cos they have no respect for themselves or anyone else, and they think they can take whatever they like, YA RIGHT, DURR.

I agree, the only place the theft occurrs commonly is at festivals, I know of two occasions when the whole tent was stolen.

I think if you start putting a deivce that was noticable on the zips it would make people wonder what was of value inside.

Maybe if the device was conceled.

I would consider using a conceled device at a festival but not on a normal campsite.

however just had anouther thought don't spend much time anywere near the tent at festicals so i wouldn't know if an alarm was going off or not. and if it did it would probably annoy the neighbours.

I agree with most here ..... theft seems rife at festivals where it is undetected due to close proximity of tents and loads of people about. Campsites are more respectable and people do watch out for suspicious goings on.

Like most, all valuables are locked in the car and only I have the keys!!

I'd rather someone just go in the tent that ruin it by slashing the sides for the hell of it (or perhaps because they haven't got the intelligence to operate a zip!)

Motion sensors are difficult to set in a structure that moves ...... so possibly a waste of time. I used to install car alarms and worked with microwave sensors for cabriolets and I know how difficult they were to adjust to stop false alarms. If alarms kept going off on a site, I think there would be a few people with the hump!!
