I would price up how much it will cost you to replace what you feel is missing and then advise him of this. A similar thing happened to us they had a different picture of the tent they were selling to the description I won the auction with a tent at a very good price and was willing to still accept but my seller pulled out due to selling the incorrect item as it is against ebays policies to sell different than advertised anyway good luck and hope you get the outcome you want
Incidentally, if you do end up keeping the tent, it would be relatively easy to make a divider to partition off some storage space in the pod. They`re only made from a bit of polycotton and some toggle loops, after all. As a stop gap you could always take an old sheet, cut it to size and attach it with safety pins.
There are those flimsy dividers in the tent, if we do keep it I thought I could probably get some material or something to go over it and make it more private.....
Yep, looked at them to begin with a month ago but they had sold out of the 6DL even as late as yesterday when I looked again.
It was this one we should have gotten, should we keep the tent , I'll take a picture for you all to see once I've worked out how to put photo's on here!!!
It is very similar to this one but smaller I think:
Seems strange that you got wrong tent but someone who won tent after you is saying excellant tent ect, have you thought about contact the buyer after you won and see if they got correct tent???? Makes me wonder if you got sent different tent as your winning bid was lower than theirs???
I sell on ebay & I think you should report it & make a complaint to ebay, if you payed by pay-pal using your credit card you can also issue a complaint/claim via pay-pal or you credit card company. You should also leave the seller negative feedback - do not allow him to rip you off by selling goods that are clearly not as described (that is also an offence under the sale of goods act - the fact that it is second hand is irrelavant).
Totally agree, you should leave negative feedback and contact Ebay and paypal if that is the means you paid for the tent. These are the people that give Ebay a bad name and many of us here telling people not to buy Tents on Ebay.
Have never bought a tent on Ebay, but do buy & sell on there. Sounds like you have very valid reason for seeking recompense and/or leaving neg feedback.
After all, if this seller gets away with this once, who is to say he wont try it on again and again with his next buyers? This sort of thing makes my blood boil....
And yes, it is is risk one takes using Ebay, and yes.... I have also been caught out. :(
Hiya ... I see this bloke has sold quite a few of these tents, My first action would be to look down his feedback and contact several, if not all of the other buyers and establish if they received the correct tent. If they did, i'd feel very ripped off and tell him in no uncertain terms. I would keep all correspondence to email and save them btw. I would demand that he accepts responsibility for supplying the wrong goods and that he pays all costs for bringing the equipment up to an acceptible spec.... don't in any way feel bad because he was selling for a third party ...you entered into a contract with HIM and no one else. If he values his reputation and his account he has no choice but comply.
If however other people have bought the wrong tent (possibly unknown to them still) after he knew they were wrong, he faces losing his eBay and PayPal accounts. You have leverage either way. He might also be interested in knowing that a lot of people, in a nationally respected camping forum, are watching and waiting for a satisfactory conclusion.
Whatever happens, I would still go and enjoy my break if I were you ...and if I wasn't thoroughly chuffed with the tent, I'd sell it as used once next spring and buy the one I wanted.
I think if the person is selling alot of tents then there probably is no 3rd party involved. You're dealing with that seller - nobody else, so threaten them with bad feedback, roporting them to ebay, getting paypal involved - throw everything you can at them - it's totally out of order. Keep remembering you didn't bid on that tent!
