Hey bunny, have you made your choice yet?  I would be interested to know which day tent you choose.

It is not me, it is a friend of mine who was going to buy a garden gazebo. I said I would find out the better alternatives.

This was our first year camping, we brought a Sunncamp Tourist Plus 12 XP tent, had a long weekend away fantastic time. Friends of ours brought a tent and we all went camping together.

On this occasion we realized when kids went to bed us adults needed somewhere to chat and maybe a small jack daniels, so we brought a summcamp dayroom each.

Third time camping now and first use of daytent , it was brilliant ,we put daytent at front of porch, it was like extension of tent.

Our suncamp daytent had no problems in strong winds, but on other side field a Khyam daytent was really struggling with the wind , so much we had to help owners take it down.

I would recommend the sunncamp daytent to everyone...............

I have to second that!

I use a Sunncamp day room - it pitches close enough to the tent to use door of the day room as a porch over the front door of the tent. I put it up single handed and whilst it flexes quite a lot when windy - it seems to resist without any trouble.

I don't think it should do that!

I'll third that, we do the same with the Sunncamp day room.  We also saw the hexagonal day room on our last trip and who ever was using must have been gutted in the morning as it didn't stand up that well to the heavy rain we had through the night but our day room was fine!

We've bought a caravan and will still continue to take a dayroom with us if we can't afford an awning yet.

Ours has flexed quite a lot since a very windy trip out in May - I think we've probably twisted a pole or done something similar!! If it's windy now we tie parachute cord between the poles to stop it all moving separately. It keeps it much more stable.

We are very pleased with ours the head height is good inside although OH has to duck his head to get in through the door (he's 6ft 2).

Hi, have resurrected this thread as couldn't find many posts about the Royal Summerhouse day tent. Could "wondermummy" possibly let me know how long it takes to get her "this day tent put up as I've noticed from the posts that she has one? I've managed to convince OH that this was an investment we HAD to make, (after losing a similar size gazebo to the wind in our garden last weekend) and am wondering how long it will take to pitch this in addition to our tent when we go away for the bank holiday - and do you have any problem with sites accepting this as a gazebo (for charging purposes?)

Thanks very much

We  have only put it up at our local forest and I mus admit felt a little silly LOL

We bought the largest royal day tent which is the summer house, because we got it for only £89 so thought we may as well pay the £9 extra and have alot more room

We found it easy to put up, we could have done it just myself and my hubby but the kids all loved helping holding a pole (ages 5,7,8) It didn't take long at all and it was only our first attempt probably about 10-15 mins and we wasn't rushing.

We loved the size but it is very big, ideal for a family.  I don't know if you would face any problems at sites due to size because we haven't used it but then gazebo rates aren't too bad anyway.  However we will probably just use it at meets and normally size isn't too much of an issue.

It's very sturdy though because of the 6 poles.  I have looked at others on sites and must say I chose this because I thought it looked more sturdy  and had the flaps on the bottom and some day rooms don't

I hope this helps

Thanks for that, we are off to Bath for Bank Hol so will take it then and try it out - we've only got a smallish tent, (Sunncamp Ventura), so we are hoping it shouldn't be a problem having a larger than average day tent to go withwith it - we can have a first go in the garden next weekend so we don't look like complete novices when we get to Newington Mill!
