Hi Ratty its bound to be cold and wet weekend after next, friends always check when I’m away cos they then stay at home. Your 70 mph winds must have been brill, admit I luv em but always a bit concerned (I am mainly a forest camper) that the next gust will bring me a tree as a bed fellow
It was a Coleman Cobra, I have had it for about 4 years (cost about 80 quid) and have used it in worse conditions than those at the weekend including wildcamping in the Lakes' in Winter (see picture on profile - said tent is the one on the left) I think it was just getting old and worn, I had already patched up a few holes in it.
Blessing in Disguise I think, Hmm, now where's the nearest tent shop???!!!!
rr
I used the same tent the week before Christmas near Brotherswater, Lakes' (again). Went down to -5 in the valley but was +1 on the peaks. Excelent cloud inversion and in the valleys not hidden in fog there was a 'bowl' of frost. (RATTY5C - is that a picture of you on Crib goch in your gallery)?

When I was younger and had no kids Hubby and I used to camp all year round in our Vango Force 10.Nowadays we`ve two kids and there`s no point whatsoever in us going camping until they can go out in the evenings for a play around the campsite. Also we live in Scotland, and it`s colder up here! So for us it`s the end of April, usually.
yes thats me riggwelter.i love crib goch but did not do it last year as i mainly stopped in the ogwen valley doing tryfan and bristly ridge.plan to do more wildcamping in the carnedeau and the lakes this year.trying to get my bro to come along but wife wont let him out!
I think with proper kit and a handy pub I might possibly be lured out to try winter/spring camping in cold, crisp, blue conditions but the thought of mud, murk, wind and rain - no thanks! First trip is usually April/Easter for us. MT

rattyc5,
I have yet to do tryfan, I Did Y Garn, Glyder Fawr and Glyder Fach last time I was in the Area but ran out of Daylight so had to come down. I think the main problem was stopping to take photo's. You can see one from this trip HERE
Excelent part of the world.

We are going in a couple of weeks time. Only started camping last year and we only have a Khyam Sherpa 3, but it stood up to some very high winds in wales last November without any problems, was good fun too. Unfortunatelly we didn't manage to get away in December as we were too busy
Went camping over new year and hope to go camping this weekend providing there is no snow (i draw the line at snow!) also depends how windy it is as it's likely to be windy near the coast wot with all the bad winds we have had.
