Looks like I have to work on OH then!  Sounds like a good investment.

Just have to decide which one.

Hi we are another fan of the Outwell Oaklohoma day tent!  Absolutely fab to have the extra room, especially if encountering rain!  We use it for cooking or drinking in, drying the towels and this year will be used to keep the bikes in when we are out.  Better than our friends Gazebo as far more substantial for wet and wind etc. and doesn't blow away like standard gazebos and land on other peoples property and cause damage!!!!!!!

Hi

Just bumping this up rather than start a new thread. We are thinking of getting a utility tent to free up more room in our living area.

We've booked for a week at Polmanter in the summer but just for our actual tent. There appears to be a charge for gazebos and pup tents - should I chance my arm and just pitch the kitchen tent or would it be better to let them know in advance I am bringing a kitchen tent? I have reserved a defined pitch area, our tent is only small compared to a lot of others and it won't mean any other people are stopping on the site...

THank you!

I've just ordered one of these for when we go on longer trips.

Utility Tent

I would ring and mention it or email them, just to be on the safe side.

And the prices have ranged from £3 per night to 50p!

We use the Outhouse utility tent for weekends and bought an Outwell Oaklahoma day tent off ebay last autumn for our 2 weeks in the Loire this August, looks a great bit of kit.

We've just bought a Cabanon kitchen tent and although we've not used it yet, I put it up in the living room to check it out and it looks really well made with loads of space and ventilation. It can all be wiped clean too which is an added bonus.

I've got the Royal Dayroom (see galary - far left of the three).  Very happy with it and of great use, especially if you're the "don't forget the kitchen sink" type of camper as I am!

I prefer a kitchen tent to a day room because one of the prime reasons for me to have an annexe is to keep the cooking totally seperate from anywhere the kids are allowed. They do not go into the kitchen tent, period. That saves me a lot of worry about them bumping into cookers and perhaps getting scalded, and also if I do set the thing on fire I only have to worry about getting myself out.

Day tents look nice, but I'm quite happy to eat and sit in the porch or under the sun canopy of the main tent.So I don't feel the need for one over and above the kitchen tent. And I would say that while a lot of campsites will allow a small kitchen tent through for free, they're far more likely to charge for a structure that takes up nearly as much room as a medium sized main tent.

We've just brought a Wynnster Leisure shelter - looks like a rounded gazebo but with 4 zip in sides and a clip in groundsheet, will probably let the kids sleep in it in the garden as well as using it on campsites as a day room.

We have a Sunncamp day room which sits on the front of our massive Wynnster Antares 9 to act as the kitchen.

We've only used it on the continent and have never been charged extra for it.

When we're at home it stays up most of the time in the garden to provide shelter for the old folks and it also gets an outing at the village fete when we run a stall.
