wow thanks for the response i was tempted to go with the coleman sahara 6 but i may think again now, we've been looking at the gelert lokon vario 6 as we can get one relatively cheap from the gelert factory shop so thanks for your opinions.

on a separate note does anyone happen to have a suncamp?? manoir i think its a suncamp mostly blue

if so how would you rate this tent??

i am very relieved to say that although we have camped in some rough weather we have not had the misfortune that some have and for letting us laugh at your anecdotes ty very much lol

We've got a Gelert Alaska 8 and it absolutley p***ed down when we were away last year on it's first outing and we were completely bone dry!!!! So would totally recomend that one. It's huge loads of room inside for sleeping, living and storage.

Not had a worst tent yet will let you know!!!!!

Hey, it's a frame tent, so it should be solid as a rock, will last for years and you can cook inside a canvas frame tent when it's hissing down outside

Best tent we have had is the tent we have used roughly 15 occasions since August 2004, the Royal Sassari 6 now the Biarritz 6. Two massive bedrooms you can stand up in (I'm 6ft 2in), massive dome area all with built in groundsheet and a porch you can do the cooking in if needed. Only down side is pitching which we have now got down to 1 hour from 2.5 hours and if it is pouring with rain when taking tent down as it is a inner pitch first. If I were to buy a new tent I would go for a all in one pitch tent or flysheet first. We also have a Quechua 2 sec tent which I can't fault, and a Millets 3 birth tent which at the moment I can't remember it's name which I also couldn't fault. So i really have'nt got a worst tent yet (fingers crossed).

Worst tent was our Makro Footpath dome tent (first camping trip); it got lower and lower with each passing day and was the flimsiest tent on the campsite!

Best tent: depends on how you look at things and I could say that the above was also the best because it introduced us to the joys of camping, opened our eyes to possibilities for improvement (we bought a second hand TT next, due to the fact that we were pitched next to so one all week and thought it was fantastic) and, to be fair, it wasn't a terribly expensive mistake.

Thank goodness we had good weather for all of our stay, though, or it could have been a very different outcome!

Got to say not sure these even qualify as a play tent god knows how Makro and others got away with selling them so long it had to be the most talked about sent back piece of Cr!P to hit the tenting world

It lasted us a week, to be fair, in perfect weather conditions (thank goodness). Had previously had a folding camper, then reverted to package holidays. We had booked three weeks off work and hoped to get a bargain deal sometime in that period. Ended up getting  a trip to Tunisia straight away, so had a week left over at the end and decided to try camping, so dashed out to Makro and hastily bought all the kit on the day we actually left for Cornwall! Soon realised we had bought a lot of tat, but the good weather and fresh air made us realise what we could be enjoying on a regular basis, so it wasn't all bad and we have since become hooked!

In about 40 years of camping, during which time I have owned eight tents, I cannot say that I have had a bad tent.  This is probably due to me never having bought a tent that I had not previously seen erected.  My current main tent, the Gelert Alaska 4, is probably the most practical tent that I have owned and although fairly large I still manage to put it up single handed.

wow thanks for the response i was tempted to go with the coleman sahara 6 but i may think again now, we've been looking at the gelert lokon vario 6 as we can get one relatively cheap from the gelert factory shop so thanks for your opinions.

on a separate note does anyone happen to have a suncamp?? manoir i think its a suncamp mostly blue

if so how would you rate this tent??

i am very relieved to say that although we have camped in some rough weather we have not had the misfortune that some have and for letting us laugh at your anecdotes ty very much lol

My wife and i are going camping on Angelsey in a few weeks and are looking at replacing our tent, in your opinion is it worth a trip to the Gelert shop, basically i'm wondering what the saving is percentage wise?

Best tent ever campus breckenridge, worst vango mavric because hubby didnt know about ring and pin or vango tension straps and was too embarassed to go back to outdoor world and ask the guys how to put it up, having said that during very bad winds and rain, it did not leak or blow away so something held it down, or up!

I believe that the Sunncamp Manoir is an older version of the Palace which I have been using for the last 5 years. Yes it is heavy to carry around but once it is up it is unbeatable and they last for years.
